Matthias Kleinhempel is a fulltime professor at IAE Business School and its Center for Governance and Transparency, where he teaches at the MBA and the Executive Education programs. He combines his academic activity with consulting at Kleinhempel & Partners, a consulting firm he founded and where he is the managing partner.

He holds an MBA from IAE Business School and a Law Degree from the University of Hamburg, Germany. His research focuses on corporate governance, compliance, decision making, and the organization of international companies in Latin America.

He worked as a lawyer specializing in insolvency and bankruptcy proceedings, in Germany and as advisor to foreign investors in Argentina. He has held a number of positions at Siemens: He was CEO of Siemens Venezuela and, simultaneously, CFO for Siemens in the Andean Region; CEO of the Power Cables Division, with responsibility for the worldwide business; and CEO of Siemens in Argentina, simultaneously serving as CFO in the Mercosur Region.

He is the City of Hamburg´s honorary representative (HamburgAmbassador) in Argentina, the Business Association for Latin America´s senior advisor in Argentina and chair of the UN-PRME Working Group on Anti-Corruption.

He is author and co-author of numerous articles, technical notes, case-studies, books and book-chapters and teaches at universities and business schools in Latin America, Europe and the US.

He has served as President of the Argentine-German Chamber of Commerce, as Vice President of the EU Business Group in Argentina, as a Board Member of the Argentine – German University Center, as a member of the Board of FUNDES Argentina and as President of IAE's Alumni Association
